Many people know of the name Botox® but haven't heard of Dysport®. Botox® Cosmetic came on the scene in 2002 while Dysport® became available in 2009. Botox® and Dysport® are both neuromodulators. Neuromodulators inhibit the transmission of nerve impluses to muscles like the muscles that cause you to frown, raise your brows, and crinkle the sides of your eyes. Botox® and Dysport® are both Type A Botulinum which is a highly purified protein and when injected, with a very small needle, by a professional relax the muscles that create wrinkles in your forehead and the "crows feet" on the sides of your eyes. Both have high safety profiles. Often the difference in which product is used is provider preference as the results, when injected by an expert, are the same. Dysport® does "kick in" faster in about 3-4 days while Botox® takes about a week. You can expect results for both products to last approximately 3-4 months.
Botox® and Dysport® will soften a line you've already etched into your forehead over time but if it is deep it may not totally go away. However, continued use of Botox® or Dysport® will keep the lines from getting deeper as the years pass. Young people are using these products to prevent the lines from ever forming.
My goal is always to provide a natural not "frozen" look and Dysport® is my product of choice for that. I also love that the result is apparent in a few days! You can expect a few small red bumps at the injection site that go away in about 10 minutes. As with any injection, there is a small risk of a bruise. The first time I treat you I like to follow up with you in 2 weeks to make sure that everything looks as it should. The cost is dependent on how many areas are treated and how much product will be used.
